Heat five featuring Cory Lopez had to be re-run due to one of his waves being missed by the judges in low light and foggy conditions two days ago. Today Lopez won the re-match and moves directly to round three. Cory prevailed in his bid for a re-surf according to ASP Rules when he confronted the judges (post Heat) along with two high profile eyewitnesses in former World Champions Andy Irons & CJ Hobgood. Both surfers testified that in their opinion the wave would have turned the heat in Cory's favor. Unfortunately the ASP camera videographer missed the wave as well in the low light afternoon conditions and pre-sunset glare. Cory Lopez will now contest Round 3 as opposed to a Round 2 elimination Heat.
